The Community Action for Rehabilitation and Empowerment of People with Disability in Nagaland (CARE-Disability) Project is a comprehensive community led initiative for the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities in the rural areas of Nagaland.
The project focuses on identification of people
with disabilities, formation of disabled people’s
organizations, creating linkages with the
government and non-government organizations,
initiating skill education and income generative
activities and ensuring education for children
with disabilities along with sensitization and
capacity building of stakeholders at all levels
with regard to inclusion and promotion of rights
of differently abled people. The project is being
implemented in 3 districts covering 4 locations
with 5 communities each reaching out to 275
persons with disabilities and their families
directly.
